Due to errorswith a created installer, I would like to remove all traces of labview and NI software from the computer and start fresh. However, nothing appears in add/remove programs and there is no NIUninstaller folder with uninst.exe. I can see LabView Run-Time engine in my start menu still.

Is there anything I can do? Previous posts have mentioned MSI Blast, but I can't find a link to that anywhere.

Your control panel ---> uninstall doesn't have National Instruments as an option? If it does, click that. That will then direct you to a list of stuff you can uninstall.

However, fair warning. NI Uninstall does not remove EVERYTHING. A clean wipe of your hard drive is the only way.

Allow me to tell you a tale... I had a labview issue that was causing labview to crash frequently and eventually not work. I tried to uninstall, then reinstall and could never get to it to work properly. So... I eventually just reimaged my machine. Everything worked. Why? Idk. Probably because there was a config file somewhere that was never recreated or there was a registry that was causing a hiccup. No idea. But... there ya go.

Did you create an installer to install your software? Oh, yes, if you don't install with an installer there is no uninstaller installed.

Funny that way. You should not need to uninstall the run time engine. The next installer will see it, check it, and if it doesn't need repair or a patch, skip it.

I think this is both expected and desired behavior. Imagine uninstalling an application that installed and used .NET framework and it uninstalled the .NET framework files, when you uninstalled it? It's easy to see that whatever other applications you had that use the .NET framework won't work any more. Since your installed LabVIEW executable doesn't know if other LabVIEW executables are also using the runtime, it leaves it there when you uninstall your LabVIEW executable.

I re-read your post and maybe I misunderstood it the first time around. You're saying something happened while you were installing a LabVIEW executable and now you cannot back out of it? I'm not at all sure how to handle a partial install.

As I mentioned, nothing appears in the control panel and there is no NIUninstaller program on the computer.

I'm trying to uninstall LabView runtime and VISA, plus all other traces of NI software. These were originally installed through a LabView installer and I also tried to install the LabView runtime separately at one point.

Can you tell me what you think you mean by "a LabVIEW installer?"

Like a download or, an installer generated by the app builder in LabVIEW?

Can you show us the build specification?
